Pros

most employees are kind, vacation is average, benefits average

Cons

LONG day. 8am to 5pm. And some departments are required to work longer, and without lunch breaks. Upper management truly does not care for staff. You are there to do a job and you should be grateful that you have one (that's the theory). they talk about professional development but there are favorites, for sure.. Unless you are HR. she seems to get everything she wants. her interests are clearly in pleasing the owner and his family. Policies are thrown in your face, but only CERTAIN ones. some can get away with wearing tights and gym cloths. Be careful when walking down the hallway, the owner will litterly run right into you and not say a word. Almost every employee there is just there until they find something better.

BroadGrain Commodities Response

Dear Valued Employee, We thank you for your feedback and we want you to know that we take the opinions of our employees very seriously. Our apologies for the delay in response, but we want you to know that we hear you and want to address this. We are committed to ensuring that our culture is one where our employees are motivated and excited to come to work, while also maintaining a good work life balance. To promote a good work-life balance, we offer an above average vacation policy, an honour based sick leave policy, flexibility for personal appointments and keep our offices in transportation-friendly locations to shorten commute times. We also do not normally expect significant overtime from our employees, although we recognize that certain projects or specific roles may require extra hours at times. Communication is an area where we are working diligently to improve and we would like you to know that we hear your concerns. We have initiated an annual anonymous survey of our employees specifically to identify areas for improvement and we have made various improvements in response to employee feedback. We would also like to address your concern that reviews may not be genuine. BroadGrain’s Human Resources department does not post reviews on Glassdoor. The company encourages its employees to post reviews and will continue to do so as we feel that all voices should be heard. We encourage employees from various departments, including trade, logistics, operations and corporate functions to voluntarily post in order to have a broad base of opinions on Glassdoor, which is in line with Glassdoor’s recommendations for employers of our size. In regards to management decision making, please know that every decision is carefully reviewed prior to execution. While it may not always be clear to you why certain decisions are made, know that the long term vision for BroadGrain and the ongoing development of our employees is always at hand. Through the decision making of upper management, we have seen tremendous growth for both the company as a whole and for our employees – and we strive for more. The success of BroadGrain and our employees is our priority and we recognize all of the hard work done by each of our employees. Without our employees, we cannot achieve greatness, and likewise, without the growth of BroadGrain, our employees would have no place to grow. It’s a cycle we constantly try to facilitate to the best of our ability. If you may feel like you are unable to have a proper work-life balance in your role, please understand that this is not our objective. Please speak to us so that we can fix the problem. You can speak to your immediate manager, or if you feel more comfortable, your divisional leader, executive management or Human Resources. We would like to figure out a way for you to feel comfortable enough to ensure your work is completed, while also enjoying your free time during the day and after work. We want to remind you that the full management team is here to assist you with any concerns you have. It is of utmost importance for us to make sure that all of our employees are excited and motivated to work for BroadGrain. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Don’t trust the reviews

Pros

Competitive pay, some good ci-workers

Cons

where do I even start. Don’t trust any of the positive reviews, they are all “fake”. Everything is negative , from management to training (none) from attitude, from personal growth, from too many people leaving as they find ANYTHING better, from long hours, from non-flexible work hours etc etc I could seriously continue on and on
