Pros

Beer, games, all the perks of a glossy startup boutique. Some of the people here are great, both personally and professionally. You can be very comfortable here and I understand why others with different motivations choose to stay.

Cons

I don't need to vent my frustrations nor add any of my personal flavor to the other reviews here. The only reason I'm even submitting this is because the points expressed in those other negative reviews were so spot-on (even those from 2012 still apply!) that I felt a responsibility to reinforce them. If you're considering this place for work please take those "cons" seriously and ask yourself if that's something you can stand for. I haven't read a single one that I disagreed with and I wish I hadn't brushed them off as merely disgruntled exes when I applied.

Great Place to Work ... For Some

Pros

They do hire some really great, dedicated, smart people who work very hard. Work life balance is incredible, especially for the industry. Health, dental, and 401K contributions are also nice.

Cons

Top heavy "Leadership Team" which makes up about 40% of the company. Hiring decisions that don't make sense (hiring another person for leadership instead of a desperately needed creative team member). ZERO opportunity for advancement, raises, or training. A CEO who is never present, has unrealistic goals, doesn't know what is going on day to day, and will only interact with "leadership". The company is an ego trip for someone who has never worked a day in her life for anyone else. One day there is no money to pay the staff, the next they are hiring like crazy, putting on an expensive conference, and upgrading office space. There is always money to support her vision but not the dedicated people who do the work.

Pros

Generally cool coworkers. Great cafe.

Cons

Absolute career limiting move to work here. No growth opportunities at all. Leadership - which is half the company at this point - has no real plan. It is constantly preached that we take responsibility for our actions and focus on our jobs with passion (to the point that leadership has held sessions on how to be productive). However, when it comes to company performance, nobody takes responsibility. Instead we hear excuses like "it just happens" and "big companies move slow". They have no idea how to plan or grow a business. This is to the point that in the span of just 2 months teams and budgets can be slashed, and then the company has to hire again. "That's just agency life". There is also a glaring lack of technical know-how amongst leadership. This is especially ironic since old marketing slogans included "Believe in Data". CEO means well but lacks the business sense and savvy to make things work. Not someone who inspires or even helps most situations. There is a cult-ish vibe that boarders on fear of the CEO and President that permeates the company. Many meetings are spent trying to figure out what either would like to see. The most ironic part is that the old motto used to be "to eradicate bs in marketing" but this place is all about appearances over substance.
