Pros

Having the opportunity to work with and help families.

Cons

Before accepting the position here, please do your research. If you’re planning on looking for effective training, you will be thrown in. It is more important to cover a client verses making sure you know how to properly implement therapy and data collection. If you are used to a fast paced environment with a lack of training this may be the place for you. Pay is below market value for both RBTs and BCBAs. Have an idea of the average pay for this position so that you can negotiate a salary you deserve. Before committing come to the center to observe and ask questions. If you are expecting something put it in writing before committing. Challenge upper management and Directors to do their jobs effectively and appropriately. If you are not prepared to be self driven and independent this isn’t the job for you. You will be expected to jump in immediately no matter if you’re ready or not. It’s an average of 2 to 3 days training with a supervisor and you will be on the schedule. This job has a high turnover rate at their ABA department. I have had the opportunity to work with great BCBAs and RBTs that weren’t appreciated and ultimately let go for speaking on ethics and the way management went about issues within the organization. There is also a lot of favoritism when it comes to the families being serviced to the employees that work there. Be prepared to possibly lose your job or title for speaking up.

Pros

Building Bridges Therapy continues to provide a sense of family from it's valued employees and dedicated clients. The owners are present and listen to their staff if there's ever a problem. You have the ability to really tailor your schedule to support a  sustainable work life balance, while being challenged in your prospective field.

Cons

There are always setbacks that can be disappointing in a professional environment. Client changes and scheduling mishaps can be frustrating; however, human error is human error; and all mistakes are resolved right away.
