Pros

Open, fast-paced and dynamic company that fosters collaboration and creative problem solving to drive quality work and success BSI expects you to be • a self-motivated go getter who knows best how to complete your work. • able to seek advice and gather support to be able to make decisions. • both trustworthy and trusting. • proactive and adaptive to change. • autonomous but accountable. Staff work from anywhere they are most productive – leveraging technology to the fullest. Fun and friendly people create a team environment even when everyone works remotely, and project teams are spread out across North America. Offices with hot desks in Toronto and Calgary with coffee, snacks, beer fridge, darts, and foosball. Many social events to encourage community among team members – remotely and in person. Balanced hiring practices: • fairly even split female/male • ethnically diverse • ages range from 20s to 70s BSI encourages an “open-door” policy: where anyone is able to talk to anyone. Co-workers are incredibly supportive and willing to offer guidance and help…There was always someone available to answer questions. Management genuinely cares and makes an effort to keep staff informed about what is going on in the company. They are approachable and actively participate in social activities both in person and online. BENEFITS • Medical and dental benefits • 3 weeks vacation plus time off between Christmas and New Year and summer Fridays • Professional development opportunities • Bonus based on performance review paid 3x per year • Corporate retreat

Cons

• Some teething pains during a period of rapid growth and as they expand their services. • Key team members left the organization. • Workload is not evenly balanced, so some roles/people end up with a lot more responsibilities and find it difficult to maintain work-life balance.

Pros

During my time at BSI, I've always felt supported by my peers and team leads. The business has it's busy cycles, but even between the peaks and valleys, management has always been considerate of my work; providing feedback on my performance; and giving ample opportunities to grow my skillsets where I want to go.

Cons

The feast or famine work flow has it's challenges
