New "management" running it into the ground--QUICKLY.

Pros

This used to be a fun atmosphere, people collaborated and worked very hard to drive growth in a competitive market. Leadership was pretty good and you had fun and enjoyed your co-workers.

Cons

The "global" CFO and the "yeller" are quickly showing how not to run a business. The Rubie's owners should come in and bring new people to help this business before it's simply a barren warehouse. To recap: 100% of executives have willingly left to escape their overbearing, inexperienced decision-making. The crew they have inserted occasionally has zero experience in running an e-commerce business and is more concerned with people being in the office for X hours every day than making the correct decisions that will grow the business. They are also failing miserably in understanding how to market and brand items and to sell via third-party sites, and have let people go who are very experienced in that because they "make too much money". Despite those people's salaries, they are making you millions, but you're too blind to see past your spreadsheet (that measures the wrong metrics) to understand that, moreless the nuances of the e-commerce world. Nevermind that many people work while at home also before/after traditional working hours and are salaried, so you're not being stolen from by people working less than 40 hours--it's the opposite. They nickel and dime things to death, making working here significantly painful, and for no financial gain really. I was happy to escape this Titanic shortly after they acquired BuySeasons. I quickly saw the mess they were creating so I bolted. Zero morale here, and I feel that those who stay are suffering from PTSD from the constant barrage of demands that are nearly impossible to meet. Longtime employees are fleeing in droves, leaving inexperienced others to try to find their way through the mess being created. I pity them.

Crazy ownership

Pros

Not much. Good people that were once like a family. Has plenty of space because not nearly as many people work there anymore.

Cons

If you enjoy being measured by the amount of hours you spend at your desk vs the value you bring to the organization, then Buyseasons is for you. You will experience being yelled at in front of peers or handling an emotional rollercoaster by leadership when trying to solve a problem. You will also experience a culture driven by fear and dictatorship vs any form of collaboration. Other than that it is a great place to work. Stay far away.

Disrespectful and dictating management

Pros

The non-management people are wonderful people to work with. They are collaborative, cheery, and very hard workers.

Cons

Management is atrocious. They put on a face that everything is going great, spend money left and right to "keep moral up", but then turn around and lay off hard workers that have been there for years because they aren't making any money. They are also not honest people who love to micromanage and dictate. If you make a mistake, it is held over your head and made known throughout the office. Office etiquette is not respected (i.e. noise levels - people literally shout and cackle at all times of the day) and gaining favor by management is not based on your performance, simply whether they like you as a person or not. There is an air in this company that says that it used to be a fun place to work, but that place is long gone, and I do not foresee it coming back in the near future, if at all. BuySeasons is a sinking ship that is going down quickly and I would not recommend to anyone, friend or foe, to take a job with them.
