Pros
good mission, providing essential services to the community
Cons
While the CEO Dr. B is brilliant and knows what CCI should be like, she creates a toxic environment that trickles down and causes the brightest and most engaged employees to leave or she pushes them out. Staff are not treated with dignity and trust, even when they have done more than enough to prove their professionalism and value. Many leaders were afraid to make decisions on their own and seemed to have to consult the CEO for even minute decisions to avoid getting reprimanded later. The CEO made absolute decisions whimsically without considering the facts or consulting the employees who would have meaningful contributions, and then frequently seemed to forget those absolute decisions and sway in another direction without communicating it to those it would affect. Often, an off-the-cuff casual comment about another employee could result in that employee being invited for a correctional meeting with their supervisor or CEO, without asking for clarification. Many employees at the Support Center walk around on eggshells, wondering if they were in good graces or the naughty list, which resulted in employees being unable to contribute to their full potential. The Development Dept. writes grants based on their imagination to win funding awards, often without consulting technical/medical experts on best practice or feasibility. The turnover rate is high.
