Pros

Coworkers make this place bearable.

Cons

-No 401k -no opportunity for tuition reimbursement -no parental leave -$30 per diem for travel -per diem only given for each night at a hotel -employees supply own food at company lunches “potluck” -little celebration of sales success -$130 hotel allowance, even in high cost cities like Silicon Valley -no annual bonuses -employees use own credit card when traveling on behalf of the company -no separate expense budget for managers -management takes no action to address company issues -firing of employees with no warning (not performance related) -short term, small picture strategy -no clear or effective leadership -Leadership style would be described as “micromanagey” -employee emails, phone conversations, and internet use heavily monitored by company -any transaction of money at every level of the company must be approved by President -distrustful culture, does not empower employees to do their job -harsh and high work standards -long hours-most employees work overtime with no extra pay -top leadership has no formal experience managing employees -Inflexible work hours (everyone works 9-6, no paid lunch hour, no leaving early) -being late (even one minute) is treated as severe insubordination -Not allowed to work from home -not allowed to take breaks, or have doctors appointments during work week -Not allowed to wear headphones when working -Outdated internal processes -all paperwork, nothing electronic -outdated computers -no adoption of cloud or collaborative working software -no HR Department

Thank you for your input and efforts to contribute to our company. We are sorry that you did not have a great experience and take all feedback seriously. You have brought up a few areas where we can do better and have implemented some solid changes recently. Out of respect to our other employees and future employees, I want to address some of the things you mentioned here. As a matter of fact, we do have a functioning HR department and we are always looking for ways to make this a great place to work. This year we implemented a 401(K) Plan with a company contribution for all employees regardless of personal contributions. In the summer of 2018, our HR Department also created a parental leave policy, when one of our employees had a child. I am also happy to share that CERTUS has home office days every month, as well as a generous PTO policy which provides all employees with both paid sick and vacation leave, should they have a doctor’s visit during the week. We also take special days off such as company founders’ day, Employee Appreciation Day and extended Christmas and New Year holidays. Annual incentive and bonus consideration are additional benefits to working at CERTUS. Like all growing companies, our culture is always evolving, and we take pride in the team we are building. While wearing headphones in the office is accepted, we ask all employees to be alert to others trying to get their attention and to answer the phone. I can assure you that the company does not ‘heavily’ monitor emails, phone conversations, and internet usage. We do however ask that all employees use company equipment for business only. I think this is a standard for most organizations. Operationally, CERTUS is doing our part to make the world a safer place to eat and this can only be done with a cohesive team of professionals who care about our mission, our customers and each other.

Pros

The diverse and great group of people who work at Toho made the experience somewhat survivable.

Cons

This is by far the WORST place I have ever worked. Upper Management consistently puts pressure on their employees as opposed to working with them - a VERY BAD characteristic for a company. Upper management basically just tells the managers what to tell their subordinates, ranging from everything including dress appearance to forcing them to use “scare and stress” tactics. Upper Management constantly stresses how lucky the employees are to receive benefits the company offers...except the benefits are the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM! There is no 401k. During travel you are given $30 per day per diem, which is barely enough for business travel. There is no actual human resources department at Toho. If you want to experience what working for the most strict company ever is, LOOK NO FURTHER! You must be in EXACTLY on time. 1 or 2 minutes late and you are looked down upon by upper management. No freedom, no trust, no future. This company doesn't care!

We appreciate your feedback regarding your time at CERTUS. You bring up many topics regarding our company culture. At CERTUS we value punctuality, however, understand that occasionally arriving to work late is understandable. Only when it becomes a habit, is it addressed by management. We are excited at CERTUS about the benefits we offer to our employees, and this is something we like to share. Many smaller companies do not offer health insurance benefits and PTO. We are happy to offer both, as well as a 401(K) plan with company contribution. Our management team is always open to ideas and suggestions for improvements, so I am surprised to read your comment. CERTUS is a new and growing company, with endless opportunities for growth for anyone willing to take on new responsibilities and challenges. Many of our employees start as entry-level and then move into managerial roles. As you mentioned, CERTUS is a diverse and great group of people, all with different backgrounds and skills they bring to the team. Our team is one of the many great things about working at CERTUS!

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time working with us here at CERTUS, but I do want to address some of the things you mentioned. CERTUS offers competitive compensation packages which include annual bonus and incentive consideration based on results. We also allow for flexibility when needed, in the form of time shifts and home office days. This year we are happy to have doubled the number of home office days compared with last year, increased our travel per diems and our HR Department is always striving to provide ways to allow for more flexibility for our employees.
