Pros

Talented people Halloween party Hybrid work A LOT of Microsoft work

Cons

Poor management Massive layoffs (2023-2024) Promises made during the hiring process were not fulfilled A LOT of (mostly) Microsoft work, which is fine, but they play it down and promise other, cooler brands that I never saw. Individualism is not appreciated, and emails are edited to be in line with the company brand. That means being told by senior leadership to add emojis, exclamation marks, etc..

Big pros and some hard cons.

Pros

-Autonomy is high -Really wonderful people work here -Really cool work being produced -Unending potential -Great physical space at the office -Really great benefits -Historically: a company culture of employee-centered empathy -Historically: transparency from the top down -Truly: a sense that senior leadership has really good intentions and a genuine desire to walk the walk of a progressive company

Cons

-Pay equity across departments is not great, some key roles getting paid way too little in this part of the country for doing essential but non-creative work -Huge decline in morale after multiple rounds of layoffs and a lot of talk about big change but no articulable benefits of the big changes (trimming the fat, a new board, some new titles designed to bring in a bunch of work that never appeared) -Transparency declined. Two weeks before layoffs, there was an all-hands meeting at which no indication was given that anything but positive progress was to be expected. They announced a new brand launch and updated website. Not a word about the realistic position of the company. -The way they handled this last round of layoffs was truly horrible. Inviting 15 people who you claim to consider not just colleagues but friends and family to a conference call, turning off their mics and cameras so you don't have to deal with their reactions, talking at them for ten minutes without giving any of them an opportunity to ask clarifying questions about next steps or final details, and then removing access no fewer than two minutes after the end of the call so there was no chance to keep any personal documents - was not the right way to do things. All of it smacks of a typical heartless corporate environment - something this company swears up and down is not their thing.

Pros

Many amazingly talented, creative and ambitious people to learn from. Consistent opportunities to be a part of some innovative projects. Overall, a lot of pleasant people to work with.

Cons

Very little work-life balance, pay scale balance is terrible across the divisions, the creative departments of the company are constantly disrespected and over relied on, room for career growth is minimal, and their carbon footprint is too big for the company size.
