This was one of the worst places I've ever worked. I have never felt so berated for doing what I was told and have never been told to basically create "bad design" to appease our clients. The owner would constantly tell us one thing, which we would do, then tell us that we were doing it wrong and we were supposed to be doing it a completely different way. He never took blame, but was very quick to find someone else to blame.
Clients were allowed to walk all over the designers. Last minute projects became the norm as our clients were taught that this was okay and that our time did not matter, whatsoever.
The pay was very minuscule. Especially with the amount of talent they had working for them. And getting even the smallest of raises was like pulling teeth.
We were expected (though, not at all in the job description) to be available 24/7 for any unexpected projects. But, if we tried to make up hours or catch up on projects from home, we would get in trouble.
They even went so low as to drag along a previous receptionist for two weeks, telling her not to come in to work, then to fire her without a good reason.
They treat their employees like sweatshop workers. They treat their clients like gods.
Out of all of my experience of working at other agencies, at restaurants, bars, etc, I have never had a manager treat me as terribly as I was treated there. Leaving the company was the best thing that I ever did for myself.
