Pros

Excellent coworkers, work to be done is overall fun and enjoyable in the design department

Cons

Management doesnt recognize skills, the boss once said to me directly in my first year working there that they dont like to give raises based on merit. Its a super sketchy work environment. They have camera surveillance WITH AUDIO that the owners like to watch from their phones. I and other employees have been reprimanded for things said and done on the camera. Business practices seemed borderline scammy at best, and there have been two legal battles between the company and their clients that I've known about during my 3 years working there. Super punitive environment, not very uplifting and "empowering" as they like to say they are. I truly believe working here affected my mental health, greatly increased my anxiety as I feared for my job most of the time, and felt extremely better once quitting this environment. This review is for CYS Group INC in Pullman WA. Their jobs are however listed under CYS Structural Engineers for some reason, so this is where I post my review.

Pros

The coworkers were the best. It was a group of really supportive women. There was a lot of camaraderie between the girls working there

This review is for CYS, inc. because it’s listed in weird ways on Glassdoor. First, I barely made a liveable wage as a full time employee here (yes, even after bonuses), but the worst part was feeling like we were scamming vulnerable women. Building them up through a “free” photoshoot only to knock them down by telling them they have to pay for each photo AFTER the photoshoot happens. It was not unusual for me to show clients their photos and for them to start crying once they saw the pricing. We were not allowed to share the pricing in advance when I worked there either. The bait and switch model was predatory at best. There are cameras with audio surveillance in every room. It felt like there was no trust between managers and employees. I even had a manager one time tell me I needed to say something specific to a customer and that they would be listening to make sure I actually said it. Years later I realize these practices are not normal. It's not normal to want to end every day of work crying and to feel like you are taking advantage of people - even in a sales job.

- Consistent work schedule - Easy to have approved time off

Cons

- little to no training for new employees - Employee metrics are not accurate to employee performance - Customer service supervisor was unprofessional; often spoke about new employees to senior employees inside the CS room. - Lack of communication between management and employees, information to employees was all over the place week by week. - Customer service supervisor unwilling to give employees proper information to succeed. - Supervisor will say one thing, while management will says another. Hard to follow the directions of their hierarchy when both disagree with each other. - No clear operation on promotion by performances
