Pros

Cons

the most toxic kitchen I've worked in. I had to take 2 months mental health leave to recover mentally from working here. I witnessed bullying of every kind and was also a victim of bullying. multiple people were being bullied. i witnessed 3 different chefs cry from the bullying. 2 of them were men, witnessed the lower ranking chefs gossiping and spreading rumours about newly hired chefs because they were jealous they didn't get a promotion and an "outsider" got brought in for higher ranking roles. CDPs and sous chefs fighting with each other is a daily occurrence. one time the exec chef had to put 2 people on opposite shifts because they could not work together. the executive chef is aware of the bullying. it happens in front of the exec chef but she ignores all the bullying going on as I assume the bullies are doing the work/talking for her. exec chef comes out looking innocent because she is just sitting in the sidelines watching it all happen from the sidelines. I witnessed one chef yelling profanities and belittling another male chef, Infront of exec chef on multiple days in a row. the 4th day, I caught the person being bullied crying in the toilet. this person resigned that same week with 1 week notice. i witnessed a CDP berating a male commis and calling them a "girly man" and telling them their new nickname is going to be P. all this happens infront of the exec chef. exec chef watches and says nothing. I can tell you many more bullying stories that goes on. these are all different people. it's not just 1 person being bullied. The CEO is a lovely woman. i am unsure if she is aware. she holds anti-bullying meetings with the entire staff once a year, all staff act on their best behaviour around her and are afraid of her disapproval for some reason. during the Anti-bullying meetings that happen once a year, all the kitchen staff would act in their best behaviour and pretend no bullying goes on. CEO comes across as a lovely lady but alot of bullying and stuff that happens in kitchen gets hidden from her. I am unsure of the exec chef tells CEO the extent of the bullying that goes on when she isn't there.
