Pros

Honestly, there is not much good about it other than the extreme job stability. Once you pass probation, you can do anything you want and you will not even be disciplined, let alone terminated. You can choose to not produce any work output if you'd like, or you can work hard and produce work output if that's your thing. Due to the bureaucracy, it is near impossible to produce meaningful results, so the people who don't work may actually be the smart ones?

Cons

No one is held accountable for anything and management is scared to discipline employees due to the Union's power. This breeds a culture of laziness and an false sense of entitlement by most employees. Frankly, working for the State of California is a pretty sad gig - just watching tax dollars get flushed down the toilet all day.

Pros

If you can get away from the politics, most people are genuinely interested in helping with our goal of increasing supplementary funding for education. Mangement is generally supportive of taking time off if you need it. Management seems to be changing and trying to give employees more training opportunities for job advancement but many jobs still seem to go to the favorites.

Cons

GAS (Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger)- Need I say more? Job promotions seem to go to the favorites Training and education opportunities are limited, but getting better. When management determines that you are a bad apple, you are done for and can never redeem yourself in their eyes.

Pros

Nice new building, bathrooms are nice, they have a small gym and locker rooms with showers

Cons

The new director Hugo Lopez fired many valuable people who made lottery great, replaced them with his friends, brought in CHP to wiretap rooms and discover a way to insert the winning numbers into the lottery's origin draw gamming system. I know this sounds ridiculous but it's true.
