Pros

1. Immediate investment in my mentoring and growth. 2. Opportunities to advance or switch roles. 3. Relative schedule flexibility. 4. The company is growing rapidly and expanding into new market segments. 5. An incredibly supportive team that made the move to a new city much easier. 6. Positive company culture—I saw complaints being taken seriously and addressed. 7. Convenient location with direct LRT access and buses right outside. A full (almost) bias-free review: I moved from Ontario to Edmonton for this job and have been here for 6 months. I don't care for the city but personally, this is the best work environment I’ve ever been in. The CEO and management team’s investment in the business and, more importantly, in us, the employees was immediately evident.

Cons

1. Office without windows (doesn't personally bother me). 2. Salary and benefits are not as competitive, given the company is still relatively small. I don’t really get the negative experiences some ex-employees have mentioned. I’m just glad I joined when I did—I see things are getting better every month.

Pros

The company is growing very fast. R&D people are very open to teach and work together as a team.

Cons

There are three places in Edmonton where you are supposed to work as part of the production team. The company will never pay extra hours. In this position, loading 5-10kg packages almost every day is expected in the production position. Analyzing raw materials is a challenge for the workers and the company. It was always hard to have good communication with the manager to solve problems and manage time.

Regarding your mention of extra hours, our company adheres to all labor standards and ensures that employees are compensated fairly for their time worked. We actively discourage overtime to ensure healthy balance, though your comments inspire us to ensure this is reiterated to all our team members again. We value open and honest communication at all levels of our organization, and we apologize for any difficulties you encountered during your onboarding and probationary period. We always aim to improve communication channels between managers and staff, especially during the initial probationary period to ensure mutual alignment with expectations, responsibilities and company values.
