Pros
As an elementary school teacher at Canadian School Queretaro, I must say that my experience has been somewhat disappointing. On the positive side, I can say that the staff members are kind and supportive, which makes the work environment a bit more pleasant. However, this is where the pros end.
Cons
One of the biggest cons of this school is that the students are extremely rude and entitled. They often do not show any respect towards the teachers, which makes it difficult to manage the classroom. Additionally, the school does not provide sufficient resources, which makes it challenging to conduct classes effectively. There are limited printing options, and no support teachers for literacy or numeracy, which is a huge hindrance for teachers. Another issue with this school is that the admin is more concerned about weekly plans and how the school looks rather than supporting the teachers in their work. This leads to unrealistic responsibilities and expectations, which are difficult to meet without sufficient resources. Furthermore, the school emphasizes that it is an English immersion school, but the students do not often speak in English, which is especially difficult for foreign teachers who do not speak Spanish. Additionally, the school only provides one break per day, which is not enough for students. The school places a significant emphasis on standardized assessments, which goes against their project-based learning moral. Most students are not at grade level, and the school does not seem to recognize this, placing more pressure on teachers who have insufficient time and resources to deal with it. Lastly, the school cares a lot about putting on a facade and what goes on bulletin boards, not giving teachers enough freedom to teach and conduct classes effectively. Overall, I would not recommend Canadian School Queretaro to teachers looking for a supportive and effective teaching environment.
