93% positive business outlook
Pros
Great culture and teams. Exciting projects.
Cons
Often asked to burn the midnight oil, but that's not too bad given the variety of excellent projects. Not the best vacation/parental packages.
Pros
The work here is extremely fulfilling, as there are ample opportunities to work with cutting edge tech and solve meaningful real-world problems. The culture is also very tight-knit, non-hierarchal, and everyone is always looking to help each other out.
Cons
CRL is still fairly young and is in the process of scaling many procedures that the company has outgrown with an increasing number of employees. Naturally, things can be somewhat hectic in this refactoring phase.
Pros
good work life balance, and compensation.
Cons
Many diversified projects at different stages as the company grows means juggling learning of new product while supporting legacy product.
Pros
I think this company has really good culture. The people I worked with were incredible, thoughtful, and just good smart human beings. If you are looking for an agile workplace to test your technical skills, this is the best place for you. In terms of robotics companies, they are a quiet industry leader, pay well, and don't try to burn you out
Cons
My issue was mostly with higher level management. I ran into multiple times promises of mentorship and honesty about performance...only to be criticized for not meeting expectations that were never set or discussed. It's incredibly frustrating to be expected to be a top performer when the initial expectation was they were going to mentor and teach you through the job.
Pros
Always new and exciting work
Cons
Stressful fast paced robotics industry
Pros
Company is filled with a diverse blend of talent, industry-leading technology for a company of its scale, and a good culture that never permits boredom. Above all, the CEO, John Bares, is probably the best quality CEO that I would ever expect to find working at a tech company.
Cons
Sometimes deadlines can be pressing, but that comes with the job.
Pros
Very smart group of engineers with good teamwork and friendly culture. This company works to make bleeding edge technology function in an everyday setting to do real work, not just make fancy 1-off prototypes that cannot be produced at scale. The things invented here are going to have an impact wherever they are used. Benefits and compensation are competitive in the industry. Extra company holidays support a healthy work-life balance for employees. There is a lot to learn at this company, and people who are excited about the technology and willing to do what it takes to deliver. Engineers of any skill level could learn something here.
Cons
For software specifically, I think the weakness of agile can be seen in some instances where work cannot be packaged within sprint sized tasks. There's probably something that can be done to further customize planning around the particular job to make the operation run smoother. It does work for the most part. For some people daily meetings take away from every engineers time; there needs to be a heightened awareness around this that makes these valuable enough to justify or a dialing back the frequency to where it is optimal. The relationships that CRL has with partner companies can make things a bit complicated at times. These partners are industry leaders and that can make driving the project forward a bit of an exercise in certain cases. A lot of time is spent in maintaining this as well.
Pros
Amazing culture - tight-knit. They feed you all day! Working with the cutting edge.. Growing with room for advancement!
Cons
Organizational structure is not concrete, which can be a negative for some who like stability.
Pros
There is very little managerial overhead i.e. redtape is all but non-existent. Concerns can be brought up with the CEO directly and there exist processes in order to provide anonymous feedback. The work itself is extremely motivating: it's not every day that you get to make high impact changes to the way robotics is introduced to an industry! CRL is filled with brilliant people to learn from and the culture around feedback and learning is very positive.
Cons
The company is growing very quickly which puts strains on certain systems that worked well when it was younger. These problems crop up and get resolved (and resolved for scale); but there will be pain points in using certain tools. Relationships with clients can be difficult to manage, especially because the clients' industries are very old-fashioned. This isn't as much of a reflection of management itself as it is the difficulty to manage expectations with the introduction of innovative technology.
Pros
Good culture, paid lunches, cool environment
Cons
Some of the engineers have a bit of a ego
