This place does not have a great work environment. It's old-fashioned and unprogressive, with some of the worst micromanagement I've ever experienced. The management means well, but they're very stuck in their ways and don't talk to their employees very nicely. The boss is a relatively friendly person but can also be quite condescending/patronising, especially to the agencies/suppliers the company works with. Regarding micromanagement, there's no independence, autonomy, or trust for employees—they need to know exactly where you are and what you're doing every second of the day. You'll be put on a timer and nudged every few minutes to see if you're done with your tasks. Additionally, the absence of a project management/task management system, what should be a standard feature in modern companies, contributes to even more disorganisation and chaos. All this creates a very suffocating environment.
Additionally, even though you're on a salary, they still make you clock in and out (including needing to clock off when you need to go on a break, step out for a coffee, smoke break, call, or anything), and they end up paying salaried employees hourly. Of course, no one can work for over 40 hours a week, so you'll be paid less than your contracted salary. Work/life balance is nonexistent here, and they often make employees stay back without paying or acknowledging overtime.
