Pros

- Working with the UAC population is rewarding in itself. - The pay is great but the benefits are very expensive.

Cons

- Non-therapeutic environment in the form of three tiny rooms with thin walls. The rooms are expected to be shared between 10 clinicians with a total census of 35+ children in the program compromising the quality of the work. - Unpredictable work schedule where you might be required to walk between the two offices, which are 10 blocks apart, multiple times in a day. - Increased work responsibilities irrelevant to the job description with short deadlines on which to complete them. - Blurred lines between being a therapist and a child sitter. - Unprofessional leadership: supervisors will curse and make inappropriate comments, especiall the assistant vp who is often verbally aggressive and vulgar when enraged. - Disorganized class/recreation schedule that makes it difficult to hold scheduled therapy sessions. - It is a federally funded program so continued employment is very unsure. So far they've had to dismiss over 20 employees when the funding was "surprisingly" cut in September.

Pros

None at this point. The culture has shifted. I no longer recognize Cayuga Centers.

Cons

My experience at Cayuga Centers took a dramatic turn due to poor leadership and lack of transparency. Recently, there were mass layoffs that left many of us feeling blindsided. While we were initial told by the Associate CEO Loraine Sanchez that the board approved a 90 day transition period, employees then received an email on 4/10/25 stating that there was a pay discrepancy and we may or may not be paid until further notice. This level of uncertainty and poor communication is unprofessional and deeply disheartening. Many of the front line staff are hard working individuals committed to serving vulnerable communities, yet their dedication is often overlooked. Meanwhile, executive leadership appears to remain unaffected, continuing to draw six-figure salaries while lower-level employees face instability. The culture has shifted toward fear and distrust. If you're considering applying here, please ask detailed questions about job security, leadership transparency, and organizational values during your interview. There are some amazing colleagues doing meaningful work, but they deserve better support from the top.

Pros

If you would have asked me 6 months ago I would have had a bunch of positives.

Cons

CEO Edward Myers Hayes making over $600,000 a year with over 50,000 a year in additional expenses (all public records) Other higher ups making larges salaries as well but suddenly the company is in a huge negative and decides to on Friday send an email at 4:01pm less then 8 hours after Lorraine M. Sánchez took over as CEO letting people know that people were going to be laid off and to just be in offices all week and wait around and see. Over a thousand people from NY laid off. When there were plenty of places that things could have been cut instead of peoples income.
