Management was abusive and toxic for years - as known by the board who did not stop the abuse or protect employees in a timely manner. Unfortunately like many nonprofits, CF is run with almost no checks and balances allowing tyrannical and abusive behavior to survive and thrive. Thankfully, one of two abusive leaders has been replaced. No comment on this new leadership.
Additionally, many employees are vastly underpaid and expected to accept poor compensation to "take one for the team" bc it's a nonprofit. Meanwhile, upper leadership is paid exorbitantly.
