You lose any ability to have a personal life. Management doesnt respect that its employees working in the spa and not ants. Management will insult your appearance , for example ; i was told my hair was too thin , i was made to buy a small and a medium shirt and neither of the sizes made them happy. African american employees have been referred to as aunt jemima by management for wearing african hairstyles . you do not receive your tips from clients , they put them in the register , tax them then will put them on theyre paychecks . meaning that 5 dollar tip turns into a 3 dollar tip two weeks later. Any problems you bring to management is said to be looked into yet nothing changes . They have an apprenticeship program for nails and they dont believe in properly training upcoming techinicians. From personal experience my first time doing gel, removing gel, french tip and repairing a nail was all with a client. When you do ask for more training youre told you will be trained on what you need to know to work at changes not any other salon . However with them agreeing to have the apprenticeship program they are agreeing to teach everything they will need to know to pass the test not just work at changes. The pedicure bowls are not sanitized properly , they are scrubbed down with bleach instead of soaking in barbicide and on sundays they soak them in dishwasher detergent for the jets, pedicure bowls which drain in a circular motion like changes has is not supposed to be cleaned like that.
