The Bad Starts at the Top

Pros

The hardworking individuals who are passionate about auto care and the consumer experience/education. A few limited snacks/drinks and sometimes they provide employee lunches or happy hours as a thank you.

Cons

Old and new leaders need to do better. There is a godlike & superiority air with many of them and it starts at the top, with the founder and is strongly injected through the VP of HR. Many employees have witnessed the founder bully and poke fun of employees (calling people potatoes, lazy, fat, etc.). What's worse and weirder is that a few of us have witnessed or overheard HR leadership (not the HR manager) abuse their own staff by talking down to them, screaming at them, using abusive language, abusive tactics and expecting them to work extremely long hours (we saw it and heard them being questioned if they left at reasonable times- after 5pm!). This is probably why the HR team lost 1/2 their team this year... And why other departments have lost and will lose more employees. Since leaders who should be the example to other leaders and the entire company don't do a good job of it you can only imagine what is spread down. There is manager to employee disrespect, bullying, etc. There is peer to peer disrespect, bullying, name calling, etc. The HR ladies who use to listen and try to help are gone and we aren't sure about the new HR staff who replaced them now so many of us aren't comfortable speaking up. They CEO seems to care a little about the employees and a lot about the company numbers (whish is his job so I get it), but we are pretty sure he is aware of what some of his leadership team is up to or has done. And we wonder if he will do anything to create a better and less abusive working environment...

Horrible Toxicity

Pros

Atypical office, some good people working there. Christmas party is really cool.

Cons

I've never seen a more toxic work environment in any company. The owner, who is quite in tune with his industry and quite smart, is also quite possibly one of the most passive aggressive and toxic people I have ever met. People who work here are demeaned, called "potato" (among other far more horrible names), and almost everything he does is aimed at dis-empowering and tearing employees down. Added to that the tendency to hire only entry-level employees, provide terrible benefits, and lean heavily on temp workers, and you have a mix of inaction and apathy that would doom any company. Most long-standing employees are people too afraid to lose a job to leave a terrible situation.

Pros

Co-workers were great. Cool type of work.

Cons

As others have mentioned. This place is toxic and it's all due to the leadership.
