Run the Other Way as Fast as You Can!

Pros

Most Co-Workers are really nice people. The common goal of the front line staff is always the children and families we serve.

Cons

Early Learning division is an iron-fisted tyranny with a focus on what is good for the business instead of what is good for the kids and families we serve and best practices for educating young children. As a result, processes have been designed to benefit the back offices with disregard for what is best for kids and the front line classrooms where we have the most opportunity to affect outcomes for the people we serve. There is a culture of fear and an understanding that we must do what we are told without question, even when we know it is the wrong thing for the kids. If you try to suggest a better way, you will pay. Child outcomes are falling. Staff is leaving. Very sad and frustrating place to work in the last few years.

Overwhelming and stressful

Pros

Great support from coworkers, you become close with those who you work with.

Cons

Ridiculous size caseload and unreachable goals. Productivity is set extremely high and staff members are forced to work 10 and 11 hour days just to come close. However close is not good enough. Supervisors aren't giving enough credit where credit is due, absolutely no encouragement unless you are somehow managing to meet productivity. The only way to meet productivity is to be unethical. Work hours are terrible, staff members must work 6 "non traditional hours" after 4:30. Staff are told not to do paperwork at home but are forced to anyway just to meet deadlines. Needless to say this company becomes your life, you will have no time for family or yourself. Child focus says they value self care and have made a mandatory self care day where you aren't allowed to work, however you must make arrangements to make up those lost hours in your already busy schedule.

Pros

PTO is generous. Schedules can be flexible.

Cons

The pay is extremely low, the morale is low, and the hierarchy and elitist mentalities run rampant.
