Pros

If you are working under the right manager, you can learn a lot and grow professionally. There is real talent in the recently acquired offices (Newburgh & Jamestown).

Cons

- They frequently ask for employee feedback, then do nothing with information - Good managers are few and far between - Managers often use junior employees as scapegoats; ownership and integrity is lacking in management - Company appears progressive and forward-thinking, however the reality is that they are an archaic company with out-dated views (i.e. technology, work from home policy, company policies, etc.) - Advancement is based on favorites, not talent. - Company boasts culture, but culture is lacking and almost non-existent. The company as a whole does not have an identity. - The physical work environment is disgusting. - Low salary in comparison to other firms of similar size. - Interns are often recruited because they "know someone" - usually they don't have an interest in the field they are interning for and often end up being a time and money waster. - They continue to expand by buying up smaller offices throughout the east coast, however they are doing nothing to create a sense of unity or culture between offices. The company as a whole is disjointed and chaotic. - Diversity is non-existent.

Good company with good intentions on improving workplace culture

Pros

In recent years especially, there has been a considerable amount time, energy and focus placed on enhancing the company culture. A large effort has been put towards getting feedback from current employees on ways to continuously improve and as a current employee myself, that effort is greatly appreciated. I also think the firm generally does a good job with offering flexible work schedules to accommodate a variety of individualized needs.

Cons

Although my experience with managerial personnel has been relatively positive, I don't think everyone's experience mirrors mine. Your direct supervisor is usually based on your discipline and office location. This person should not only serve as your boss, but also as your mentor. In my opinion, not all supervisors at CPL are meant to be supervisors.

Corporate CPL

Pros

Good relationships with other staff members, some flexibility with schedule. Pay is decent starting.

Cons

No holiday pay. If you want a holiday off you have to use PTO which means if you take off several holidays you will not have a lot of PTO to use for other days. Very corporate answers when handling issues and sometimes you will feel like they care about money more than employees. No room to move up and raises do not happen frequently.
