      Small teams, knowledgeable staff, meaningful work, plenty opportunities for professional development

      dated time and project management strategies, lack of diversity, no opportunity for vertical progression/upward mobility, upper management out of touch with employee capacity, contributions, and knowledge.

      Pros

      The organization is filled with intelligent, mission-driven people and cool science. When things are going well, it can be an inspiring place to work with a collaborative culture.

      Cons

      2025 took a sharp downturn — significant layoffs, disengaged or absent leadership, and an HR function that lacks sophistication. Compassion for staff has faded and the environment has become increasingly demoralizing. Progress on diversity, equity, and inclusion seems to have been rolled back.

      Pros

      We're trying to solve climate change by informing messengers and decision-makers about the reality of and solutions to climate change. You'll learn a lot about science and science communication as well as get to know some important audiences in the US really well (especially folks who don't necessarily agree with you).

      Cons

      Measuring success is difficult especially in the short-term, so it can be hard to understand prioritization decisions.
