Pros

For all of its faults and drama, Clir somehow did manage to hire some incredibly talented individual contributors.

Cons

-3 company restructuring layoffs within a year. -A trend of women leaving the company (the theme of the restructurings was often 'women'. Women were consistently overlooked for promotions. I would not confidently recommend Clir as a place for women to work) -Roles are not being backfilled and the workload is expected to be picked up by others within the company. Expect your workload plus the workload of those who have been let go. -A culture of authority without responsibility amongst executives (constant manufactured urgency due the inability to manage their resources, expectations and obligations). -Execs offer little to no support to their colleagues. They will often not show up to calls they themselves have requested, not respond to slacks/emails for days on end, and constantly not review the work that came out of the 'urgent' requests. Your work can exist in limbo for upwards of 3 months before it is given the time of day. -Execs will gossip about other employees (ex. share that they are underperforming, how employees got 'so drunk' on the last work trip, etc) -The exec who runs HR has never been trained in the role. If you have a conflict with someone/something, there are no resources for employees. They have no understanding of how to help their burnt out employees or mitigate recurring issues. -No opportunity for growth. -Clir's NPS score for the months of January-February was -16. By June, they had barely crawled back up to 0.

Pros

Good benefits and good culture before layoffs.

Cons

C-suite posting fake reviews to make company more attractive after multiple rounds of layoffs, most recent being December 2022. No direction or future. Waiting for a buyout.

Some potential but ultimately frustrating

Pros

Clir had some good people and an admirable focus on culture and diversity; generally interesting work.

Cons

Ultimately the only person deciding what happens is the founder; you are either ignored or micromanaged, with a lack of direction punctuated by sudden changes in direction and abandonment of plans and half-finished work. Higher management distant and inattentive resulting in frustration and wasted time. By the time I left, higher management was a boys' club and the cultural focus was declining. Outside lack of direction, life was not too stressful but it took ages to get anything done.
