Pros

You are obviously expected to get your work done, but there is no formal billing hour requirement you feel compelled to meet. Therefore, you can maintain a good work/life balance. Also, the firm has good benefits and (for some markets) the salaries are top-notch.

Cons

Associate bonuses are some-what lockstep and not tied to performance. Therefore, you are not really rewarded for working harder than your colleagues and you colleagues are not really penalized for not carrying their weight.

Pros

Very structured & ethical place of employment. The attorneys there were always polite despite my youth and were always available to listen or offer advice if needed.

Cons

There would be occasional arguments or gossip among non attorneys; sometimes the receptionist (who I have heard is no longer there) would be rude.

Great company but not very inspiring work

Pros

The people that work for this company are mainly energetic and kind, but there is often a lack of communication that overshadows the workplace atmosphere. Overall, though, the company is a great place to work.

Cons

The senior attorneys are often very demanding of your time and fail to grasp that staff has a life outside of the office. You are compensated for your time, in most instances, but the work/life balance amongst the culture of the company could use help.
