Cons

A typical day at work includes leadership flailing out of their office at any point to criticize entry-level employees, often without full details. During my time at Cognition, I have learned to pay attention to leadership and how they treat their employees. This has helped me understand the level of integrity and decency I require from my leadership, including the need for an HR department to hold everyone accountable for their actions. Workplace culture is very poor. Every attempt to liven up the work space or team morale is shot down by leadership. This includes even dimming the lights. Leadership goes as far as making employees sit at certain tables during dinners. The hardest part of this job was onboarding and training myself from day one. I came in early and left late almost every day for seven months, eliminating work/life balance. My onboarding and training included a laptop and a monitor, both still in boxes. The most enjoyable part about this job was meeting and hiring a great team who will go on to do amazing things in their next chapter.
