Avoid unless you like being disrespected

Pros

The vacation policy is good.

Cons

The company doesn't know what it wants to be - trying to change but failing, all while pretending everything is shiny and awesome... it isn't. Unable to retain talent due to toxic environments, major lack of opportunity, no focus on training or learning. New business wins rare and existing clients unhappy. HR is a joke, detached from reality, unable to communicate or act when they should. Every office is stressed beyond normal and acceptable levels but senior management do not care and those who try to address this either face brick walls or are under too much pressure themselves to make any progress. Senior Management are arrogant and have no respect for the teams that are working hard, all day every day. Knowingly underpay - do not accept this!

Pit of Despair

Pros

2 days a week in the office

Cons

The senior management are absolutely toxic. They are some of the worst people you will ever come across and are very fake and passive aggressive. They treat you like you're worthless, they are manipulative, narcissistic and are very biased towards females. Many of the finance function are from the South Africa region so unless you are from there or are prepared to worship the ground they walk on you will very likely have a difficult time and if you have ambitions to grow then forget about working for this company it will be a waste of time unless you obviously need a job to get you by.

Pros

Some great people to work with Work-life balance

Cons

Top heavy structure with a lot of people out of their debt and stuck in old and counterproductive ways Bullying is a common practice that is rewarded aligned with nepotism and heavy politics Micromanagement and senior management too involved in day to day activities Unclear direction, strategy and lack of personal development for anyone below Director level High turnover without business continuity or reward to those who stick around Self interested and egotistic senior leadership

Pros

Some of the engineers actually doing the work are great

Cons

Senior management has no clue what they are doing String people along for career advancement and then lay them off Expanding "legacy" systems Focus is all short term In the almost 4 years I was here I received one 3 day formal training session Most teams have a mix of people doing nothing and some doing everything Despite having a business that is built on "family" and "doing the right thing" the management made countless mistakes managing their product and tech, instead of looking to improve they notified over 100 people they could be made redundant and the cycle will continue when this managemennt inenvetably fails and the next one comes along.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We are sorry you feel that way. Transformation and change is never easy for any organisation but we try our very best to make it easy for our people. Changing customer demands and market forces require us in turn to change if we are to meet the needs of the changing environment. We appreciate that the impact may be difficult for some. We regularly ask for feedback including through our internal surveys in the business to make sure we are listening to our people and always aim to align with our values which are important to us. I have noticed that you have since left us and hope you had spoken to your P&C Business Partner about your concerns prior to leaving. Pros

Great people - Scrum Masters, Developers, QA, BA, Product Owners

Cons

Tech Leadership is poor and does not communicate well to the whole division. Constant restructure from leadership and poor comms has lead to confusion and low productivity, yet the development teams are to blame for this. There are many great people working in Collinson, it is a shame that senior management does not value this.
