Pros

- Affordable lunch was offered every day, and breakfast once a week. - It was easy to get holiday requests approved.

Cons

- I found it extremely difficult to negotiate a fair salary. - A person of the opposite gender received a bigger raise than me, even though I had more experience and a wider range of responsibilities. When I asked about it, my manager couldn't explain the reason. - I was often micromanaged. - Higher management was chaotic, responsibilities and team structure changed every few months. I was assigned to many teams and different responsibilities throughout my career at Colourbox. Projects changed abruptly and without notice, so I never really knew what to expect in my day to day work. - I was yelled at, and often participated in meetings where certain people swore a lot. I experienced that other employees were also treated this way. - While I was there, HR was handled by the CEO so I couldn’t turn to anyone neutral when I was treated unfairly. - Only a chosen few were allowed to work from home permanently. - It was impossible to get budget approval for tools or courses that were needed for my work. - The company is located near farms and difficult to approach with public transport.

A chaotic whirlwind of disappointment.

Pros

Great food. You get nice equipment if the boss likes you. Interesting market - diversity of topics covered. Some people are nice, but many have left. There's an office in Germany that you could visit/work from.

Cons

There are two products in this company, Colourbox and Skyfish. Splitting limited resources for two whole products makes for a very chaotic working environment. Skyfish also is the "golden star" product that gets more attention and fixes. Claims to be diverse/international friendly, but treats their international employees as disposable, cheap hires. Constantly tells their employees to remove images of people of color from their website. It is clear what their opinion is from their behavior and friendliness to the actual salary their "diversity hires" are paid, regardless of experience. Company leaders get bored and change the leadership styles or company/team organization every 6 months. Where new teams emerge and die when they're too much work. Unprofessional hires. Nepotism is strong in this company. Any friend of a friend is welcome aboard regardless of experience and loved for 2-3 months, after which they become less interesting to the bosses or they're suddenly aware that they can't provide results. Clear favoritism for the development team versus any other department or person. Everyone else is scrutinized and micromanaged, except developers who are perfect geniuses who can do no wrong. The favoritism is also clear in the salary discrepancy, and training offers. Where they are taken to sunny conferences and given any book or tools they require without a second thought. Whilst everyone else is questioned as to why they need it and what instant value it would bring to the company if they're given it. Temperamental managers. Many people are getting yelled at (and made to cry), given the cold shoulder, or straight-up fired if they dare to say something that the bosses don't want to hear. But they hide under an understanding, nice mask. Things are taken too personally by them when data should be respected vs. personal preference or the opinion of one client (and they're the ones always saying you should act on data!) You have to fight tooth and nail for a fair salary or title and even then you're scrutinized and made to feel like you do nothing right. Almost always ends in more responsibilities for nowhere near the amount you should be given. Outdated tech and almost no tools to work with (by choice). They don't believe in advertisements, yet are surprised no one knows of their company except their local circle. The office is in the middle of nowhere, near farms and the local trash pit. Needless to say, the smells and bugs in the summer are horrid. You better pack a thick blanket for the winter, because turning on the heating is too expensive in the cold months. There is no (unbiased) HR. For the longest time, the CEO was HR. Needless to say, as much as they claim they're willing to listen to anything you have to say, nothing gets fixed and you may end up on their "blacklist" for daring to bring a critique to their company. Don't expect your ideas or projects to be accepted or see the light of day. Most projects are at the whim of the bosses or particular clients/board members. And even those projects change in priority and importance from one day to the other, with no clear communication. They say they're okay with hybrid/remote work, but they will request you at the office. There are a few special favorites who are allowed to work from home, but for most, this rule does not apply and in fact, you get questioned even when you're sick when is the soonest you can be at the office again. Big employee turnover. Say goodbye to culture and don't get attached to people because they're either fired or they realize this isn't what they want to spend their time and mental health on. There's an office in Germany and those poor people are always forgotten and rarely or belatedly informed of changes within the company.

Pros

- Very good lunch - Interesting product, problems and solutions - Possible to make an impact - Work from home negotiable - Some very nice coworkers, until they got fired or left

Cons

- Absolute lack of direction or commitment - Questionable working conditions: heat, cold, air quality, glare, insects, smell, flooding - To affect change it is a constant fight against the forces of chaos - Management shows very little transparency and the communication style is chaotic and people get treated differently - Communication ranges from absent to unprofessional - New people get treated better
