Commonwealth offers a stable employment environment with little surprise
The benefits are slightly better than other firms that I have worked for in the past
The pay is average for the industry
Cons
The lack of career pathing and upward mobility has created a very centrally controled toxic culture. Upper management has a mentality straight out of 1960 and it creates a very suffocating environment.
The new management is making long needed changes. Not everyone agrees but for the most part, they appear to be heading in a good direction. Tough business decisions are communicated and accepted by most: there 's always a few who don't get business beyond getting their paycheck and wondering "what's in it for me?" but they seem not get promoted around here. People are moving between offices which gives them flexibility. More people who have the ability to work from home are being allowed so it is good to see the company cautiously doing more of this.
Cons
It is frustrating waiting for all of the changes that have been recognized as being necessary to come to life. It took too long to make the biggest change regarding an office, which is hard, but everyone knew consolidation would be better.
