The way people are treated, sometimes even openly is alarming. 13 hour days 7 days a week and for no extra pay. If you're not working those hours you are seen not to contribute. Effort is measured in face time. We "do not do homeworking" - unless you're in a management role. If you mention anything you're a problem and management will hear about it. Work related stress absence is seen to be "a way to avoid being performance managed" not as a result of bidding work knowing you will need 1 person to do 3+ jobs. Your career if you're a woman will stall, unless you conform to the Skanska mould of much talk no action, thus the women in charge in Skanska are worse than the men. "Positive discrimination" is rife. If you're a woman or of ethnic minoroty they have to interview you, before giving the job to the more experienced 40 year old while male. Management can get away with corruption and a slap on the wrist when found out but staff will be fired immediately for having a face that doesn't fit. Do not express an opinion unless it's to agree with what the last person said. The values are meaningless. It's about chasing money. I'd seen too much wrong and said it didn't relate to our values and a member of the exec team said they were only corporate propaganda. Skanska are in bad shape with some dodgy contracts loosing a truck of money, failing to win any work for months if not years in some areas. be careful if you do join not to join a failing business unit. They are all very different.
