Exciting Place to Work - Challenges and Opportunities Abound

Pros

There are more projects and opportunities to make an impact at CYC than other companies I've worked at. There are always collaborative tasks to engage new team members with, and high visibility client facing work that keeps you engaged. The new products, and direction of the company are very encouraging and exciting for future career growth and opportunity. Management makes a strong effort to engage with employees, and provide opportunities to showcase skills and abilities.

Cons

With any tech based company, there are more projects than people to manage. While this can create challenges, it can also allow people to operate in new roles, and learn new skills. There can be shifting priorities, and can make tasking at times a challenge.

Not A Great Place to Work

Pros

My position is located at the corporate office in Hunt Valley, MD - nice geographic location outside of city Some nice co-workers on my team

Cons

The list of cons is quite extensive so I will provide a condensed version. If I could provide a negative value rating for this company, I would do so simply in an effort to help others avoid this company. Let me begin by stating I am a professional with over 20 years of industry experience. In addition, I possess an advanced degree. That being said, I know my value/worth and what I bring to the table. I also recognize no job is perfect. However, what I have witnessed first hand within this organization is truly unbelievable and worthy of a negative review. Key Issues: 1. Ineffective leadership - inclusive of execs down to senior level managers 2. Toxic environment and culture - very low morale 3. Extremely high turnover - this indicates a significant issue considering professionals are leaving consistently; not simply the lower paying call center reps (which is expected) 4. Lack of training and development 5. Personal battles harm productivity and interfere with overall mission 6. Very political culture - be a "yes" man in order to get rewarded 7. Favortism is fostered - people do not get promoted based upon their hard work and contributions but rather based upon favortism 8. Poor communication 9. Lack of transparency 10. Abuse of employees

Thank you for your feedback. As a member of our leadership team, I do take your review very seriously and would love the opportunity to sit down and discuss in person. I am committed to making CYC a better place and would welcome an opportunity to better understand some of your points. While you may believe it's all show, truly, my door is open, my calendar is up to date, and I am very much available to you and any other employee who has concerns about the direction of CYC. No company is perfect, but we certainly are doing our best to address issues, recognizing that change does not always happen quickly.

Pros

A few nice people (mainly in the administrative team), relaxed dress, and nice location outside of the city.

Cons

Leadership team does not have a clear direction and are not aligned on key priorities. CFO attempts to micromanage every part of operations with only dollars in mind which becomes counterproductive from a company growth perspective. The environment is very toxic and by the end of my time with the company I dreaded walking into the office. I felt that I was disrespected/ bullied on a daily basis. I was forced to take some time off after leaving the company because the experience was so traumatic. During my exit process I felt no one from the leadership team wanted my actual feedback, they all already knew why I was leaving (on account of horrible finance leadership) but didn’t seem to have any intention of addressing the problem. I would not recommend CYC to anyone in my professional network. Moreover, I would not recommend anyone from the leadership team to my professional network.
