Pros

You wont be fired because owner is too cheap to pay for your unemployment.

Cons

too much work, not enough staff. management bullys staff into writing good reviews. 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week. you are expected to do the work of 3 people. taking time off for illness or emergencies is frowned upon. NO ONE IS HAPPY. sales runs the office, they are pressured into closing as many cases possible even if they don't qualify.

Consumer Law Group Response
10y
Hello, please accept this response to “The good reviews are fake” review posted by an alleged current employee. The purpose of this response is not to attack anyone that wishes to express a point of view. This response is intended to stand up against false and defamatory allegations. I can assure you that any review posted on this reputable website is a legitimate review from our existing and former staff. Anyone interested in joining our team is welcome to meet us to see the professional and family environment fostered at Consumer Law Group, LLC (CLG). If joining one of the most exciting and fastest growing law firms in Illinois motivates you, I suggest that you contact CLG right away. To the alleged current employee: your comments are simply false. In response to the accusation that anyone would be "bullied" into writing a review, well that is not only false, but comical. The actual bullying comes from your false allegations that seek to harm CLG’s reputation. It is well known that any CLG employee’s success is quickly recognized and rewarded. Our employees regularly receive generous bonuses for their hard work. Your comment about “a hostile work environment,” is false: CLG encourages any employee with any concerns to approach our Human Resources department without fear of reproach. In response to your accusation that “sales run[s] the office”, that statement could not be further from the truth. The truth is that everyone at CLG works as a team, regardless of job function. And, any great company is bigger than any one person or any one department. CLG’s employees help each other regularly because CLG’s employees pride themselves with comradery. CLG’s attorneys turn away a very high percentage of the people that walk through our doors seeking legal assistance for various reasons. Although CLG would love to, CLG cannot help everyone. You will not find a more honest, compliant, ethical, and forward-thinking law firm. Your allegation that “taking time off for illness or emergencies is frowned upon” is also false. CLG has a great paid vacation policy and CLG also offers paid time off for illness and emergencies. In fact, CLG recently had three employees take lengthier paid vacations. While they were out enjoying their vacations, our amazing team of professionals pitched in and helped out to make sure that CLG’s excellent customer service and diligence remained steady. At the end of the day, the employees that took time off had a great time, returned to work refreshed, and CLG welcomed them back with open arms. As to your comments regarding hours, CLG employees work hard, that much is true. But, our employees work hard and long hours because they care about their clients and they pride themselves on the work they do. CLG also prides itself on creating a work environment where employees actually want to come to work each day. No one should dread coming to work each day, and CLG has done a great job creating and maintaining an environment where employees look forward to going to work each day. That alone, is one of the best benefits CLG has to offer employees. In the very slim chance that you are an actual and “current employee” as you so allege, I would welcome the opportunity to sit and have an honest conversation with you about your career at CLG. Additionally, keep in mind, if in fact you are this unhappy you are free to seek employment elsewhere. CLG’s positive culture is evidenced by the success of our current team and benefits offered. Our employees have all experienced tremendous opportunity at CLG, financially, academically, and intellectually. Our employees that excel with CLG are indisputably paid more than their peer groups. Our team of professionals handle complex cases in areas of Family Law, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Labor Law, and Immigration Law, among others. Our attorneys receive weekly and monthly bonuses regularly. Employees tend to stick with CLG for years because they are happy and pride themselves in being part of the team. I hope this clears up any false impressions anyone may have had about CLG. Unfortunately, glass door’s policies prevent us from listing specific employee identification online. However, if anyone is interested, feel free to contact CLG directly to schedule a time to meet our team of Managing and Associate attorneys. I can assure you that our employees will stand by any positive reviews you may find.

Pros

I saw a negative and completely false review on this site and I wanted to reply. First, I want to make really clear that unlike what I have seen with other company reviews, this review is absolutely legitimate (and completely unsolicited) as are all the posting put up by my coworkers, as far as I know. As to why I am putting this posting up, well I will say that CLG is unlike any place I have ever worked. First, not only does management take a real interest in its staff but it actively looks to seek out its managers from within. To my surprise, I personally was promoted 6 months after joining and I know some of my coworkers have had the same experience. Maybe not 6 months, but I've seen 12 month promotions happen pretty often. What makes my experience here at CLG so different (and what also inspired me to write this review) is that the energy is contagious and managements strong desire to be the law firm of choice in our particular areas of practice makes it exciting to work here. You feel as though you will have ample opportunities to advance. I feel fortunate to be employed by a company that also is committed to giving back to the community. In December of 2016, this law firm coordinated and funded a HUGE (2000 Plus people) Christmas party for the community and their children. I personally worked the event and saw how much good they did for the community and our client base. I am unaware of any other law firm that does such things. Additionally, as if this is not enough, they have charity drives (food, clothing, healthcare, etc.) on at least a quarterly basis from what I have seen since I joined CLG over 2 years ago. These things make me proud to be part of the CLG team of attorneys. In addition to this, I have to say that our group is all very close professionally and at times personally. We truly like where we work and more importantly who we work with every day. I read something about "sales" in a posting here. Let me tell you about our "Sales" which management refers to as Case Managers. These hard working people make my job as an attorney so much better. They assist with chasing of all sorts, coordinating meetings, etc. They provide a significant amount of assistance to me, on many levels and that makes it easier to focus on the actual legal work! Keep up the great work CLG.

Cons

None to note. Yes we work hard, however, I anticipated actually working hard when I went to law school. unlike some other opportunities, my hard work has paid off and continues to pay off!
