Pros
If not for the environment of Halifax itself and the great people within it, I'd have been hard pressed to say something good about my time working as an Animator at Copernicus.
Cons
Being an animator at Copernicus appeared to be lowest position one could have, based on the overall treatment we received. Issues that should have been caught in the boarding or builds stage would always trickle down into animation, and when we needed extra time to resolve these issues, we often were given a strong implication that we needed to work overtime hours to get our quotas done or else we'd lose our jobs. We were also given a speech that if we were unable to pull our weight, we may have a hard time finding employment elsewhere in Halifax because "studios talk to each other." I rarely got the impression that supervisors were empathetic towards our struggles, and despite working 2-13 overtime hours on a regular weekly basis, we were only compensated one time. I understand Copernicus is working on this but if they know their employees are working overtime and not being compensated (illegal) they should really adjust what they promise their clients in regards to deadlines. Not only for the sake of a quality product, but for the actual human beings who work for them.
