Cons

Pay was low, all levels of the staff were unprofessional. My second day, I shadowed a nurse as he did the pre-procedure work for a patient. After speaking with the patient we went back to the nurse's station and he was preparing the anti-biotic cocktail for the patient. He then asks if I want to help put the different medicines in the syringe. I, someone that has a lot of scheduling experience, however I am not certified at all to do that. I told him of this and he said "so? Want to try anyways?" I, again said no thank you and that was that. He was boasting about his long career as a nurse, working full time at the surgery center and part time at a local hospital...wonder if that was by choice or he was not able to secure full time work outside of the surgery center… Apparently I was taking over for someone who was leaving “because she was unprofessional and was now not a good fit for the office.” The administrators words, not mine. This gal that was leaving told me she was pushed out because they were only giving her 25-30 hours a week which wasn’t enough for her live off of. I was then told by management that I would have 40 hours a week, but every day I came in for training, I didn’t have someone set to train with me and was only working 4 hours a day. I think I worked one 8 hour day. My first experience with the nursing staff was that they were all friendly but complained about their jobs. They all talked about how they were actively looking for work elsewhere….even the anesthesiologist chimed in that they were looking for other opportunities!! If all of this isn’t enough, I heard (quite clearly as I was not eaves dropping but sitting nearby) that one of the owners of the surgery center had a clinic of his own, all of his employees checks bounced…he took their money!! I did not feel safe working here and only stayed one week (which I NEVER do and have never done before). I do not advise anyone to work here!

Pros

Flexible hours. No nights, weekend or holiday shifts because is a Monday through Friday business. Short shifts available. Closes on snow days.

Cons

No leadership or HR on site. Run by an absentee board. Constantly changing staff. Not a team environment. Very low pay. Often have shifts and hours cut due to low census.
