If you are not a white male who wears boots and a ball cap, you will not be heard or valued. Your pay rate is going to change. One week it will be X, then the next it will be Y- and that’s doesn’t mean you’re getting a raise. They can’t keep payroll right. Some weeks you get direct deposit- some weeks you don’t. Rules change constantly. We are asked to do something one way, then the next day we get in trouble for not doing it a different way. The owners know nothing about landscape business, and make doing projects a nightmare. They are running off every experienced employee they have and replacing them with men who have no experience whatsoever. There is no job stability. You will never know what to expect. This is a plant business, but when I left there were maybe two people left who knew about plants. Very few people left have been there much more than a year. It’s very sad. At one time, it felt like family.
