Pros

There are no longer any good reasons to work at Crystal Cruises

Cons

Used to be a good place to work: felt like family, there was not a lot of staff turnover. The current CEO was named and brokered a sale between parent companies, from NYK to Genting. This initially felt like a positive direction as the company, after having been stagnating for years, was now backed by a parent company who was going to invest and help them grow. There were quite a few announcements of expansion very quickly. Change is always difficult, especially for people who have been in a status quo mode for years. A good leader would usher the team through the changes. Unfortunately, the new CEO is an elitist, condescending tyrant towards the tenured employees. The newly hired Friends of Edie are probably quite happy working at Crystal in Miami since most of them were hired in at positions a step or several steps above their capabilities. For those old school people still working there: leave while you can, she is moving the company to Florida even though she claims she isn't and won't be inviting you to join. The pay is terrible and what used to be a decent cruise benefit to employees now is equally terrible: most clerical staff can barely afford to travel to the ship so cannot take advantage of sailing on vacations.

Pros

Benefits, few honest people or coworkers

Cons

Outrageously low salary, untrustworthy senior management and CEO.. We were recently purchased by a new company (Genting) and obvious negative changes have been seen. Bunch of new VPs and Managers were introduced with absolutely no proper training or knowledge of the product. New management are a bunch of rude jerks with no manners. They demand things and will hand off as much of their own responsibilities to current/old employees who are so overworked, that work has become a nightmare. Rarely is any appreciation or gratitude shown anymore. CEO is a liar who says one thing and then changes. You can tell she is only lead by money symbols and could care less about her lower employees. Basic salary for normal employee starts somewhere around 30k/year. Managers are somewhere 40-45K. Company seems to forget that it's located in LA. I can barely feed my family and children but this female CEO struts around like she doesn't have a care in the world. Company is expanding and buying new products constantly worth millions and millions of dollars but can't give it's 150-200 employees slight pay increases so we can live above the poverty line. I work at Crystal and have to be on food stamps while new executives walk in here like they own us. Sickening and disappointing. This I used to be a nice place to work. Even if money wasn't up to par, at least the people were nice and stress-free.
