Pros

Certain benefits, such as lodges and EOT bonuses.

Cons

Complete lack of transparency at head office - do not trust the Chairman. Run more like a cult than a company, standard buzz words: "Impact", "Curiosity", "Being Human", "Integrity" - none of which represent the values proffered by the board of directors. Lots of meaningless roles at head office that bump up overheads but don't add value - I don't know what the "Sustainability Coordinator" is supposed to do, but they certainly don't do it outside of Liverpool. Company currently engaged in "trimming down" but only outside of Liverpool, they've just let go the entire Nottingham office, but word on the grapevine is that it won't stop there...

Thank you for sharing your experience. At Curtins, we recognise that maintaining a robust and sustainable business means making difficult decisions at times. Whilst these are never taken lightly, we will not steer away from them. We remain committed to putting the resilience of the business first. We know that people may not always see the full context behind those decisions, and we appreciate that this can create uncertainty. We would like to provide reassurance that across Curtins, job security remains strong. Our structure is designed so that different roles contribute to the business in different ways, even if the day to day impact isn’t always visible to everyone, each play a part in how we deliver for our people and our clients. We also believe strongly in maintaining a respectful culture. Calling out individual colleagues or suggesting that someone’s role has no value doesn’t align with the collaborative environment we work hard to create.

Pros

Work culture is positive, focus on charity and office events. Focus on being environmentally responsible.

Cons

Intolerant to staff with disabilities or mental illness. I experienced condescending remarks almost daily towards the end of my time at this company, causing me a huge amount of distress. If you do intend to work at this company for longer than a year and have a disability, be sure to look up your rights. Unequal work from home allowance within the department with no explanation as to why. Understaffed, so senior staff had limited time to organise training for me.

We are not aware of any such attitudes or behaviour in our business and we do not want anyone to have the experience suggested in this post. We are committed to promoting good mental and physical health both inside and outside the workplace, and we do this via our comprehensive wellbeing approach. The ways in which we support our colleagues includes our employee support service with a 24/7 online GP, mental health counselling and a network of trained mental health first aiders, a get fit programme, a financial wellbeing programme plus much more.
