Pros

Fast-paced environment if you enjoy multitasking. Some coworkers genuinely care about doing a good job. Fellow team members tried their best despite terrible condition. If you enjoy chaos and being stretched beyond your limits, this is the place. You’ll learn how much you can endure under pressure.

Cons

Inconsistent leadership. Decisions change daily depending on which owner or manager you’re talking to. No SOPs, no clarity, just chaos. Expect to be blamed for things out of your control. Severe understaffing. You’re expected to operate with the bare minimum team, cover multiple roles, and still hit performance targets. It’s burnout by design. Empty promises. Benefits like health insurance were promised but never delivered. Raises and support were discussed but never followed through on. Overtime abuse. Even if you’re scheduled into overtime, you’re told it has to be “pre-approved”—then denied payment for it. Clocking out while still working became normalized. Toxic HR practices. HR doesn’t mediate issues — they escalate them. Rather than help resolve workplace conflict or clarify policies, their approach is intimidation and deflection. Poor sanitation culture. Cleanliness and health standards are regularly pushed aside “to save time.” Managers are pressured to skip proper dishwashing and handwashing protocols. No legal awareness. Labor laws around breaks, overtime, and working conditions are treated like suggestions, not rules. It creates risk for everyone, especially store-level staff. Blame culture. When things go wrong, leadership rarely takes accountability. Even well-intentioned feedback is dismissed or met with defensiveness. Zero work-life balance. You’ll be contacted constantly on your days off, expected to cover shifts at the last minute, and shamed if you push back.

Overworked and underpaid

Pros

Coworkers all great to work with

Cons

Upper management is controlling and works their employees to the bone. The amount of BOGOS, sometimes unannounced, is so exploitative. All for min wage btw. They have loopholes to get away with raises. They used to give bonuses as a small mom and pop shop, but now that they’ve gone corporate I would not recommend this job anymore. If you want to be a store manager I definitely don’t recommend, you will be forced to work 27/7. Trust me I see and we went through so many managers and can’t keep one due to mistreatment.
