Verbally abusive, disrespectful and lacks any level of charm.

Pros

There are no pros to this firm, except they buy you beer on Fridays... This in no way makes up for your week filled with verbal abuse and general lack of respect.

Cons

Everyone is quiet and unsupportive. The firm lacks a feeling of camaraderie, friendship or encouragement; which is directly fueled by the named partner. Everyone seems to be living in fear. I am still in disbelief over how many people have worked at this firm for so long. They need to realize their worth and move on to a firm that has a partner that will not scream and cuss in their faces over a small and simple mistake. The amount of work I was required to produce, under very little direction, caused me to work more hours than I did for studios in graduate school. When I did the math I was making less than minimum wage on the salary provided. The salary that the named partner said was "more than generous" - which was less than what AIA thinks is fair in NYC. I do not recommend this firm for employment. If you have other options, don't torture yourself.

Pros

The younger staff were nice and helpful.

Cons

The work environment is oppressive. People do not talk to each other unless absolutely necessary and everyone eats at their desks. Sometimes the whole office would hear the principal screaming at an employee in his office, hoping we were not next. It was a sad lot.

Pros

Small office with a variety of projects, can see various phases and a good amount of transparency on projects.

Cons

The pay is just embarrassingly low. From interns to juniors to intermediate, the pay is well below other NYC offices and benefits are poor. Raises are difficult to get. Junior: low 40s. Experienced Intermediate: lucky to get low-mid 60s. When employees are valued financially, I believe they will perform at a higher standard and stay longer.
