Pros

You can make decent money here -- IF you can keep yourself motivated and sell in spite of demotivated staff, demotivated management and constant pressure. Expect to be incredibly bored and make little money during the summer months, and decent money (easily $17/h) in the winter months.

Cons

Base wages are unfair. There is no yearly evaluation or raise for team members, so expect to become incredibly demotivated when you realize you've been working for two years with no raise and the company has decided to start hiring at a higher pay grade! My store had at least one associate being paid a base rate of LESS than minimum wage (after minimum wage in the province had been raised a year after her hiring date), because management is SO apathetic towards giving raises. Expect to be told "we can't afford to raise your pay" unless you walk in with your resignation letter in your hand. Expect for new hires at more junior levels (Sales Associates vs. Key Holders, or Sales Associates vs. Sales Leads) to be hired at a higher rate than your base wage, and when you ask for a raise to be told that it's impossible.

Pros

Canadian company, co-workers were the best, great head office staff, not much direct competition, this springs product was on point

Cons

Head office people were not on same page, constantly made bad decisions, and blamed stores for lack of sales. Issue was with bad product decisions, alienating our more mature customers that had the money to spend, shorting sales floor, and over complicating things. You had talented people that would of done anything for this company and now we are closing. This could of been prevented if upper management, design teams, and marketing had gotten their act together sooner.

Pros

Discount was fairly decent. If you like leather, defintely a plus. Sales training was helpful and can be used in other careers, helping customers.

Cons

I worked for Danier for a over two years and different locations holding multiple roles, one in management and the other in sales. First off the quality of managers being hired to train, develop and lead a team of high performers is a joke, the manager would often choose favorite's, giving more hours to weaker sales associate who gossiped with the manager andvlistened to boring stories. Over the year the turnover rate was absolutely insane, mainly from the lack of hours and no direction or help from the manager. If you ask for more hours you'll receive less and they always say it's "business needs" yet hire another part time sales associate. The management team chooses favorite's, and when you complain to human resource's its pointless and remind you to read the policies. If your from the ages of 18-21 sure this is a great part time very casual job when you live at home and are a student. If you're needing a steady income this is not the place for you, hours are not consistent, and expectations are high for more "senior" staff. No benefits if you work for the company less than 2 years, and no wage increases.
