Pros

- A few skilled colleagues (mostly in the business teams) - Good food in the canteen - Free internet at home

Cons

- They are a windows (.NET) shop with an overly complex and unstable infrastructure. - IT project management often lacks the proper domain knowledge. - It is very easy to pass their interviews. Therefore they hired many mediocre software developers that often lack abstract problem solving skills and even common sense. - Middle management forces outperformers to 'revert to the mean' in order to hide their incompetence. - Aarhus is very expensive even though the city has not much to offer. - The taxes in Denmark are very high in order to achieve 'equality' among their citizens. They even tax your company phone since you might be better off than employees in other firms which don't have 'the luxury' of a company phone.

Pros

Benefits: Private health insurance, free cell phone and internet. If you possess an average talent you will have an easy time getting along there.

Cons

The company operates with a discretionary bonus scheme, which makes your bonus more a result of how much your manager likes you rather than your performance. A lot of key people has left the firm. The company puts more importance on you clocking in facetime, rather than achieving results. They will attempt to start you off with a low base salary, but be very wary of this as your salary growth is pretty much frozen once you sign the contract. There is only a few skilled people to learn from, and they do not stick around for long. There is also a lot of office politics going on, and it does not seem like upper management has a clear vision for the firm. The living costs and taxation in Denmark quickly cuts into your salary. If you are serious about your career you should consider something else.

Pros

They pay your internet. If you are at a starting point in your career you can trade being exploited for learning some basics.

Cons

Behind a facade of scandinavian "coolness", Danske Commodities boasts the typical atmosphere from a cheap wall street movie. Although its aggressive marketing can have its appeal, and although there can be some pockets of camaradery within the company of people who have been working together for a long long time, a more critical look beyond the surface unveils that the professionalism and objectivity of the company are so low that often it is just the ones that have been there forever, or the backstabbing cheaters, that hold the power. The collaboration levels are inexistent where it matters (in front-office), and the blind favouritism, backstabbing and internal competition leads often to little bullies being promoted to middle-management roles. These middle-managers go on to blind and further backstab the senior leadership. All this results in them offering extremely low pay, trying to suck the most out of new employees without any long term view, and basically a dog-eat-dog environment. This exploitation, together with the fact of having had a certain first moving advance on EU balancing markets, is what has led the company to manage to be acquired by Equinor. This doesn't want to be a blanket statement, and, like anywhere, something can be found there if you are extremely serious and dedicated to looking for it, but if you take your wellbeing and career seriously, and also care about why and how you achieve it, you are extremely likely to want to look somewhere else.
