Pros

Alright pay and benefits IF you got lucky enough to be hired during the right union contract. Some people are nice. Management at least tries to pretend to care if you have an issue...occasionally. And if you need a pen or a marker to do your job, you're guaranteed to find one, somewhere, usually on another line, in a different department, already being used by someone else.

Cons

Women going through menopause and the men going through the male equivalent. Alot of people are mean. Management DOES NOT care about anything you have to say, even if they assure you that they care and will do something about it...they most definitely don't. You will never find a pen or a marker, apparently they always 'still need to be ordered'. The company thinks that us on the floor are stupid and don't know how to put a puzzle together. Their only original new product that I've seen recently, costs alot to manufacture, takes a long time to make ONE batch and also creates more scrap than finished product because our 'engineers' can't get the machine specs to par. The union reps work for the company not for the people paying their dues every month. Alot of behaviour is overlooked by supervisors due to favourtism of people they like and extreme punishment is instilled upon those who look at one if those menopausal women i talked about earlier, the wrong way. There is a zero tolerance policy on bullying but supervisors will be the first to turn a blind eye at the incidents because they are too busy attending Quality Assurance meetings, passing product as perfect to spec for consumers, only for the company to receive avalanches of consumer complaints of broken or burnt product. And that's all our fault, as we have a board to show US what we need to fix.

Pros

Has family company values with good work/life balance. Occasional long hours-which is ok since balanced by fair regular hours.

Cons

Some entrenched favouritism managed by a clique of long-timers who do little actual work and feign overwork and publicize they're many ( usu stolen) achievments.
