I joined the company as a junior employee and was assigned a mentor, which is in theory a good idea. The company expects you to make an impact very quickly, and I actually understand and accept that expectation. However, if your mentor lacks people management or leadership skills, this process can become extremely difficult and stressful.
Mistakes are not tolerated, and there is very little room to learn or grow from them. The most frustrating part is the lack of feedback — even when I explicitly asked for it, I did not receive clear or constructive input. Because of this, no matter how hard you work, you never really know which mistakes are critical and which are acceptable, so it becomes impossible to improve in a healthy way.
For this reason, I do not think this is a good place to start your career. You are constantly given very specific instructions on what to do and how to do it, rather than being guided, coached, or encouraged to think and grow independently.
