Pros

- Collaborative environment with attorneys - Open door policy to get tasks done; didn't have to jump through communication hoops to get info, could just go to an attorneys office and meet face-to-face (including prominent partners) - Small team - Generally friendly environment

Cons

- Thin walls - personally listened to the CMO bad mouth current employees on telephone calls to friends (a regular daily occurrence) behind an apparently "soundproof" door - Excessive micromanagement - Out of date processes, initiatives, materials - It is ironic that one of the most respected names in advertising and marketing law does such a poor job of marketing themselves (website is about 20 years out of date, pitchbooks, etc.)

Pros

- Attorneys (most are friendly) - Secretaries - 20 PTO days - D&G has amazing clients and the work they do is really interesting

Cons

- No room for growth within staff departments - Micromanagement within the marketing department is an understatement - Titles are arbitrary (unless you're an attorney) - No trust given to employees to do their job (staff-wise) - Little to no processes in place making it quite difficult to be consistent - 9 times out of 10 you will have to make some sort of edit to your work, even if you did it EXACTLY as you had the time before - Upper management typically just pushes work off onto people under them, with not much direction - You are typically expected to get every single thing approved, including emails - Upper management also doesn't have a full understanding of how to do all job duties so you typically are trained by the person you are replacing. Including temps - Taking time off can be extremely difficult and you are expected to "ask permission" - Constant push back by any ides you try to contribute - Events are outdated

Culture of the firm

Pros

Monthly "attorney/associate" outings, flexibility work from home, life/work balance is encouraged for attorneys and associates.

Cons

Now, if you end up under the "staff" category, get ready to work and when taking a day off, having your boss ask you why you took a day? Hopefully you wont end up with an irate attorney that takes everything out on you, (subordinate) because he/she is fully aware that sort of behavior will not be tolerated by "management". HR and IT are literally nonexistent . Most of the staff has been working here for 15+ years and are done wanting to make a difference which makes for extremely complacent work environment. If you're OK with becoming a part of the furniture then this is the place for you. For those of you with ambition and half a brain should look elsewhere. The culture will quickly become toxic for you.
