Pros

Opportunity to be creative and learn from skilled coworkers. Immediate team members are friendly and bond quickly. Fashion is fun and clothing discount is great.

Cons

Decjuba are strongly focused on curating an image of a cool, fun and happy workplace. Great effort and cost is put into creating moments that can be photographed for Instagram. Unfortunately, crafting an image is where the genuine care seemingly stops. During my time at head office I often saw bullying, either directly or passively aggressively. Examples are swearing at staff, making snide comments as walking past, yelling at/singling out and embarrassing in front of colleagues, giving the cold shoulder for long periods of time until they quit or are made redundant. There was extreme unpredictability around day to day workload as tasks were often created last minute at the whim of senior leadership and without consultation (autocratic leadership style). Likewise, things would frequently be cancelled or request changed after the work had already been completed. The turn over of staff is huge and there were many cases of effective immediate resignations. Seeing people cry in the office was an almost daily occurrence. Showing any vulnerability was perceived as weakness/poor performance and would have negative impact on your career/the way you were treated at work. The culture at Decjuba is very much role modelled by executive leadership to be narcissistic, ruthless and fickle.

Pros

- Previous regionals letting me actually run my store and giving me guidance to succeed

Cons

Where do I begin??? They drag you through hell and expect you to kiss their feet like you owe them something. You work your back side off only to get ripped into like you are worthless. All they preach is empowering women but my time at Decjuba was anything but that. I worked and worked to get into my position and then they bully me, push me to my limits, make me look like a fool in front of my casuals, condescend me and the best part is favour your other team members over you. You could be a store manager like me running everything smoothly and working damn hard to do so and your Assistant Managers can take weeks off annual leave/sick leave and you have to pick up the pieces. Not to mention DOUBLE STANDARDS from regionals felt across the board. I have been here for long enough to at least have the freedom to have some annual leave days and enjoy my time off LEGALLY GIVEN to me in my contact but then they pull the rug from underneath you and say you can’t take leave off because of “key trade days” but 2 weeks later give your ASM 2 weeks unpaid annual leave, a weeks unpaid sick leave and time off ON A KEY TRADE DAY to attend a non important event.... but they won’t even let you have time off that you damn well deserve. There are all these rules and policies you have to uphold to your team whilst you regional let’s it slide for anyone BUT you... yeah you the STORE MANAGER- key word you run that store and uphold its expectations and they act like they couldn’t care if you resigned the next day. Not to mention when you resign they try to force you into different positions and ask you to stay to help them out... HELP YOU OUT? HAHA. You should be asking for FEEDBACK as to WHY they are leaving so suddenly without even a word.

Pros

Staff discount-that’s it nothing more

Cons

Management and head office were very unprofessional. They bully you until you leave or they will put you on all these performance plans and then fire you. I have been in retail for over 20 years and have my own business, never have I worked anywhere with such a high turnover. I would never treat my staff to the point where there are multiple employed sueing for emotional and stress trauma.
