Diversity - There seem to be a good mix of ethnicities across depots, and they are hiring more women when it used to be very heavily male dominated. Flexibility - If you communicate your needs with management, they can be fairly flexible with shift patterns and can be open to suggestions when it comes to improving workflows and methods. Friendly atmosphere - Most customers (there are always the few who disappoint) are long term and come in to the depots to shop on a regular basis. They are usually quite nice people and you end up building good customer relationships over time rather than dealing with one-time buyers who are in and out all the time. Family-run company - that tries to be consistent with a family feel and ethic which is a pleasant idea.
Cons
Ancient technology is used across the business - some reaching over twenty five years old. Salary - unfortunately there is very small incremental increase year on year for salaries unless you are senior management. Senior management and Head Office tend to have the company's best interests at ehart but that doesn't really follow through at an operational level. Progression - Very limited to no career progression for most staff members Bad inter-depot communication/alignment most of the time. Especially awful admin at the Barking branch - a horrid lady who has worked for the company for over 15 years (?) is hostile and verbally abusive to most people she encounters - sometimes including customers! She doesn't work well with managers or coworkers and acts as a blockade to improvement. When things don't go her way she has a habit of inventing nasty rumours about people and spreaidng them around. How she has been allowed to stay is absolutely beyond me.
