Pros

— Cool office in Berlin on the canal, although before the pandemic it was getting quite crowded and busy — HR department genuinely cares about the employees, however they don't have enough clout — Some regular perks of Berlin startups such as Headspace subscription, learning days, Udemy subscription, educational budget, and so on

Cons

I don't even know where to start... — People running the company do not have experience in SaaS and it is painfully obvious — Some of the high level management outsources leadership decisions to people below them which creates a culture where there is a complete lack of accountability — Directors are being hired to cover up for those who are above them, but unfortunately the interview processes are flawed which results in hires that also have no idea what they are doing. In the end there are layers of hierarchy, endless meetings but no results, progress or at least accountability — Huge issues with communication, especially when it comes to product decisions. Why was this decision taken and by whom, based on what data and with what desired outcomes — it's not easy to find answers to these questions at Doodle — Delivery teams are set up for failure because the work is happening in silos and honestly it feels like you are in an echo chamber until you randomly find out another team is working on a solution that will kill you work that you have been working on for months — For a company that's in scheduling business, the meeting culture is the worst I've ever seen; 20 hours a week spent in meetings is a "good" week — No career development plans in some departments & no clear career path is the least bad thing 🙃 I would also strongly advise for people who care for their mental health to stay away from chaos that's Doodle. You deserve better from your employer than telling you to adapt to chaos and find comfort in the uncomfortable, that's just lazy management that does not care for the people's wellbeing.

Advice to not get near this company

Pros

A lot of the normal start up benefits like an education budget, home office, working abroad, and etc. Their pretty flexible with working hours if you have a good manager.

Cons

Everything at Doodle is very messy. Leadership is absent and incapable of making decisions so everyone walks around lost, where nobody knows who is responsible for something. Worse you will be punished for mistakes of leaders. About 40% of the company have left in the last year or so because horrific workforce management. But instead of dealing with problems, they just hired a bunch of directors who have very little control over things. This made things worse and made even more people stop. In addition, this company lacks professionalism and communication. Managers and executives ignore to responding to urgent problems, fail to show up at meetings, fail to pay attention during meetings, and there have been examples of questionable statements in the past. Despite all the problems, the company refuses to admit things. Very quick mention of bad survey results and a lot of "this is a great place to work" even during people quitting. Try to talk to issues and they get ignored. Advice to not get near this company for the next year or so until things change. It is not to be enjoyed.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. We are sorry that your experience at Doodle has been negative. Regarding turnover, we have different numbers and would gladly share more data with you. The last year has been hit by what is now called "the Great Resignation". In similar organizations, the global turnover rates easily average 45% since the past year. However, we are constantly working to enhance our employee experience. We've heard your worries concerning leadership and saw already that it was a point on which we could improve. For this reason, we have kicked off in January 2022 a new program for leaders that will include coaching. We are not perfect. However, we keep at heart to learn and grow. The only way we achieve this is by working with our employees. So we can only encourage you to reach out to us, share your idea on how we can do better, and you can be part of the solution!

Management sucks, one is an alcoholic, the previous CEO is a egocentric liar, Tamedia is so so... not really helpful at all only restricting.

We are committed to creating a comfortable, transparent and collaborative environment for all our employees so we are truly disappointed and sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for raising concerns about “Management with problems”, however we have just recently been through a great and very positive transition at Doodle and we are very confident on the way forward with our management team and all our employees worldwide.
