Pros

Flexitime was nice and overtime was compensated with time in lieu. Work/life balance was good when not at the end of a project.

Cons

Backed an entire studio into a corner by closing them down. Their options were move them to Chatham (a different country), start working for a new startup company with very little notice, planning or information or just plain fired. Those not wanted by the new company were given the option of redundancy. The management is not to be trusted here. Constantly increased workloads with no payoff or incentive for staff. Training was non existent Planning was non existent Career growth was non existent Felt like the same content was always being churned out with no room for improvement unless you put in some crunch.

Pros

Some people working there are great.

Cons

- Lousy pay - Low morale and boyclub attitude in Chatham - The products are getting worse - No control, its clear they dont understand development - Some key workers are so passive aggressive and hostile that if you raise the issue, they run to management and you get in trouble. - No one really knows who the CEO is, or what he does. - Mood is depressing. - Did I say lousy pay compared to others? That review from 18th of july is quite literally spot on, on 90% of the issues with this company. They lie and sugarcoats everything. You are not valued, you can not progress and if you work for 5+ years...you get a pin....a pin.... probably 80% of the people are working there because there are nothing else in the area, and most of them are actively job hunting. People are leaving in droves and its not because its so great to work there.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I wish you were in a position to feel more positive about working at Dovetail Games, I would really welcome the opportunity to discuss the points you have raised with you, so I can gather some constructive feedback to work with. With regards to your pay concerns, we bench mark against industry yearly and underwent a process to bring pay inline with this 3 years ago, since then we have had annual increases for all qualifying employees and have a quarterly pay review process. I hope you feel you can come and speak with me as we do not want people feeling like this. Many Thanks Gemma Johnson-Brown CPO

Pros

Not bad office design if you don't mind the smell of some of your co-workers invading your nostrils... Not bad management if you only look one level above yourself when at the bottom of the table... No lack of things to do outside of work such as football. Work is not too intruding on the rest of your life... except when release is right round the corner and certain people think you exist to serve them for their yearly release.

Cons

You will undoubtably meet people who you will wonder what they actually do to earn their pay check, and never once get a decent answer. If they can pay you less they will... just ask our new "secondment" colleagues who joined us in dev not long ago. To qualify for any higher positions in the company you must meet the criteria "used to work with existing higher management when they were at EA". Progressions... ha who are you kidding. The higher up management really don't look like they want to be there. No one wants to bring their issues to HR, why do you think this has gained traction amongst those of us on the dev side who have been here for some time and felt we had no where to go that would actually address issues?

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I would love the opportunity to discuss what you have raised and get a deeper understanding of where you see the issues. I hope you can appreciate that complaints and/or grievances that are not made openly are far more difficult to respond to. Being in an open plan office it is sometimes too obvious for people when you ask to speak with HR privately, you can contact me directly on my mobile (number is on the employee directory) email or Facebook me and I can arrange a meeting offsite. I can assure you of confidentiality, you can raise your issues with HR and give me the chance to address them, being part of the Senior Management myself of course I am considering that you could feel that I am also part of the problem, alternatively I am happy to arrange for an independent HR facilitator for you to speak with. If you really don’t see any of these options as a route to resolve your concerns, I’m sorry that you feel that way. An interesting fact to sign this response off, as the EA thing is a common theme in our Glassdoor reviews, only 6% of our current employees have previously worked at EA. I truly hope you come forward so we can discuss what you have raised. Kind Regards Gemma Johnson-Brown Chartered MCIPD VP, HR
