Great example of a waste of time

Pros

It could be great, but ego and hubris prevent this from happening. Life at Drumroll is great, if you avoid the truth and tell the owners what they want to hear.

Cons

We are told this place is different - it’s not. We are told our work is meaningful – it’s not. We are told our voices matter – they don't. If you’re here long enough, you realize that it’s all smoke and mirrors. A great show, but it's not substantive. Don’t mask your poor leadership with the “embrace change”, ra-ra speech. It’s old. It’s disingenuous. It makes you look worse and you’re not fooling anyone.

Go work somewhere better

Pros

I have to write 20 minimum words here. Some of the people were cool. They tried to make it a fun culture.

Cons

Lots of egos. Espcially considering it's a subpar "agency" with a lackluster client list that only provides productions work. Like many people have said, the work it lame. You work on banners, emails and some microsites. You do little or no actual creative work since better agencies/studios have been tasked with creating style/brand guidelines. It's really more of a production house with an identity crisis. Many times I was criticized and told I had a bad attitude. It's hard to have a good attitude when most of management are people who started working here right after graduating from Texas State and were promoted quickly, thus they have no real experience anywhere else. The know only one set of clients, one type of process, one type of culture. They're not open to anything else. Also, you're micromanaged. People are constantly looking over your shoulder. "Were you on facebook today?" "is that your personal email?" It's insanely stupid.

Run, don't walk

Pros

There are some smart people who work there. Salary seems to be competitive (until you realize that you will never, ever, ever work a 40 hour week). A few "big name" clients.

Cons

You'll work long, thankless hours-- multiple weeks of 60+ hours-- and then you'll be reprimanded for walking in at 9:45 instead of 10 am. You aren't trusted to get your work done from home. Sometimes you'll near completion on a project and the CEO will step in last minute and make you change EVERYTHING. There are some bad seeds who will never be reprimanded and they'll make your life completely miserable. Bad choices in upper management who can't make or stand by decisions and will find scapegoats who don't deserve it. I met a few good people here but overall felt like working here hurt my career and definitely made me miserable.
