Leadership failing, students paying the price

Pros

Salaries arrive on schedule Complimentary lunches Students are a genuine bright spot

Cons

Leadership is aloof, lacking both transparency and credibility A performative culture masks deeper dysfunction; input from teaching staff is consistently ignored No clear curriculum or basic teaching materials—staff are left to fend for themselves Career development opportunities are non-existent; stagnation is inevitable Compensation lags significantly behind peer institutions, rendering the role poor value for the demands placed on staff Leadership shows little regard for staff wellbeing or professional expertise—decisions appear driven by optics, not substance Qualifications among senior personnel are questionable; some lack even baseline teaching credentials Ethical boundaries are frequently blurred: safety measures are performative during inspections, and staff have been pressured to present a false image of the school A legally dubious clause requires staff to accept unilateral policy changes by email without consultation or consent Emotional manipulation and gaslighting are disturbingly common management tactics The mantra “students come first” is undermined by financial decisions that harm both students and staff for the benefit of ownership Ongoing cuts have resulted in abrupt dismissals of long-standing, dedicated employees

Pros

- Brand new school - Very nice facilities - Decent school canteen

Cons

- INSANE workload. - Last minute changes, and no apologies for them. - Staff are forced to work ECA's, duties etc... without any concern of staff burnout. - HOS has a temper and can get quite aggressive with staff. - Staff morale is very low and everyone is looking at ways to jump ship. In short, run from this chaotic mess.

Pros

-Good facilities. -Good food. -Beautiful landscaping

Cons

Managing director: -Bullies staff into submission. -NO experience in running a school. -Loves to bypass the chain of command. -Insensitive and inconsiderate. -No compassion at all. -Favors the staff who bow down to him. Those who don't, he'll make sure to make their life at school like hell. HR department: -The most incompetent people I have ever met. -Clueless and lazy. - They would even ask you to do their job for them because they're "busy" at that moment during your time of request. -Only replies when the managing director is being cced on the email. -When they need something from you, they will pressure you until you give them what they want. -If you need something—assistance or information—they will sometimes reply to you 3 or 4 days after you send the email. -Works on your important document that needs to be submitted to the local government at the last minute. When they didn't meet the deadline, they would say to you, "Your documents were incomplete; that's why we couldn't complete the processing." -Their incompetence will highly affect you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Students: -They respect the local teachers more than the foreign teachers. -They would say bad things about their foreign teachers in front of their faces in their own language. -No discipline at all.
